Introduction

Modern slavery is a heinous crime and a morally reprehensible act that deprives a person's liberty and dignity for another person's gain. It is a real problem for millions of people around the world, including many in developed countries, who are being kept and exploited in various forms of slavery. Every company is at risk of being involved in this crime through its own operations and its supply chain.

At The Job People Limited, we have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are fully committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in our operation and supply chain. We have taken concrete steps to tackle modern slavery, as outlined in our statement. This statement sets out the actions that we have taken to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to our business, and to implement steps to prevent slavery and human trafficking during the financial year 2023.

The Job People Limited recognise the importance of tackling Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking and throughout all of our processes we strive for the highest ethical standards in order to prevent and identify any such crimes.

As a labour provider to all industries, we acknowledge that the biggest exposure to modern slavery is via our recruitment processes, so we ensure that we are meticulous in ensuring this process is robust to uncover any concerns.

  • Code of Conduct - our code encourages employees to do the right thing by clearly stating the actions and behaviour expected of them when representing the business. We strive to maintain the highest standards of employee conduct and ethical behaviour when operating abroad and managing our supply chain.
  • Responsible Sourcing and Supply- which is a commitment to ensuring when recruiting workers for our clients there is a responsible approach to all laws and procedures throughout the whole process.

Awareness

The Job People Limited has raised awareness of modern slavery issues by ensuring all internal employees are trained and are aware of the resources available to us to focus and raise awareness of modern slavery within the supply chains. Employees are aware of what to do to raise any concerns of modern slavery.

The attendance of webinars and workshops provided by external companies such as the Association of Labour Providers, Stronger Together and the Gangmaster Labour and Abuse Authority is promoted to all relevant staff and top-level management in order to maintain knowledge and distribute across the business.

Key members of the business have undertaken the Certificate in Professional Development for Investigating Modern Slavery. This course has been developed by the GLAA in conjunction with Derby University and provides guidance on how to conduct an investigation effectively whilst protecting potential victims.
